Day 6 - Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber

Day 6 we said our good bye's to Munich and got ourselves a hire car and headed for Rothenburg.

It was really strange driving on the wrong side of the road, especially in the city.  Many times I went to jump in the drivers seat thinking that it was the passenger seat.

We headed out of town and up the Autobahn.  WOW!!  At one stage we were cruising along at 150kph being passed as if we were only doing 20kph.  It was unreal.

The scenery was beautiful.  I was amazed by the power mills everywhere.
Then we saw a sign that we just couldn't resist.......  LEGOLAND!!

We had a quick stop over in Legoland.  We checked out the displays, rode the lego train, and learnt how lego is made.  We had a great time, but it would have been better if the kids were with us.

We then were back on the autobahn and heading for Rothenburg.  As the Navigator said we were getting close, I was a little excited, but to drive in those gates, simply took my breath away!
Rothenburg is a Medieval Walled city.  It has stood for over 800 years and has only been taken by force twice.  It is unbelievable.  As soon as I drove in I felt at home.

We found our B & B, dropped off our bags and headed out to explore whilst we still had daylight.
Every corner we turned, gave us another little street or alley that made us go wow!

We tried snowballs.  A pastry unique to Rothenburg.  They were all crumbly in the centre yet covered in chocolate.
The afternoon was quite hot, and as we wandered, an afternoon summer storm threatened.  It didn't rain, but put on a wonderful sky show.

We had a nice dinner in the square and then waited for the night watchman tour.
Now this guy was amazing.  He was funny, full of information and if you were ever wanting to teach someone about medieval times he would be the man to do it.  It was only 7 euro each and he didn't collect the money till the end.  I thought that some people might stop following him along, but everyone stuck around.  It was great.

Our tour finished, but we didn't want to go to bed.  As tired as we were, all we wanted to do was stay up and not miss a thing.  So we had an ice cream then slowly wandered back to our room.  I got to play with the camera a little on our way back too.

I went to sleep as the happiest girl alive, with my wonderful hubby in the most beautiful place on earth!
